Letter From the Principal
Dear Families,

School Registration for the 2016-17 is currently taking place. Placements are available in Pre-School through 8th grade.  Please tell your friends and neighbors about St. Michael School and let them know that we want them here. For more information contact Lara Krill, Assistant Principal, or the school office.

Applications for tuition assistance through CEF (Catholic Education Foundation) are now available and families are encouraged to complete these forms as soon as possible. Families MUST APPLY EVERY YEAR for this assistance. Online applications can be downloaded and submitted at www.ceflou.org. Paper applications are available through the school office. The CEF application deadline for submission is March 15, 2016.  Fr. Dick, Mrs. Krill, Phillip Green (our new parish business manager), and I met this past week with Rich Leichleiter, the President of CEF.  He wants to make sure we share this message:  If you want your children to attend a Catholic School, there is assistance available!
My seventh grader came home this past week from school with a list of things he wants to work on during Lent.  So often we think of giving up tangible things for Lent, but I loved what he showed me.  In addition to giving up sodas, this is what he had written in his iPad notes:
What to give up for Lent...
Give up complaining -- focus on gratitude
Give up pessimism -- become an optimist
Give up harsh judgments -- think kindly thoughts
Give up worry -- trust Divine Providence
Give up discouragement -- be full of hope
Give up bitterness -- turn to forgiveness
Give up hatred -- return good for evil
Give up negativism -- be positive
Give up anger  -- be more patient
Give up pettiness -- become mature
Give up gloom -- enjoy the beauty all around
Give up jealousy -- pray for trust
Give up gossiping -- control your tongue
Give up giving up -- hang in there and have faith, always!
I am grateful to be a part of this wonderful community. Thank you for allowing me to serve your families.
Many Blessings this Lenten Season,
Stacy Tackett

Kindergarten students passed out homemade valentines to "share the love".
Kindergarten Shares Love with Parish Widows/ Widowers
Last Thursday, our Kindergarten classes hosted "Sharing the Love" with members of St. Michael Church who recently lost a spouse.  Each class performed a song for the guests.  Additionally, the students made homemade valentines and handed them personally to the guests.  The teachers were originally inspired by a guest on The Ellen Show.  They wanted to find a way to show love here at St. Michael and so the idea was born.  Parents  of the Kindergarten students provided refreshments for the guests as well.  Overall, we had positive feedback from our attendees and hope to make this a Kindergarten tradition!
